Aircraft Prebuy Inspection Services
A professional prebuy inspection can save buyers of aircraft thousands of dollars by determining the serviceability and overall condition of the aircraft they wish to acquire. It is not uncommon for aircraft under contract to be found unairworthy because of faulty equipment or lack of compliance with an airworthiness directive. Once the aircraft deal is closed and the buyer takes possession of the aircraft, it can be extremely difficult to force the previous owner to bear the cost of repairs that should have been performed before the sale.
Since the extent of a prebuy inspection depends upon the complexity of the aircraft and requirements of the buyer, Nationwide Aircraft Assurance Services offers two types of prebuy inspections. The Class I and Class II Prebuy Inspections.
The Class I - General Prebuy Inspection
The Class I Prebuy Inspection is recommended when a fundamental inspection of an aircraft is required to determine its general serviceability and condition. Performed by one of our qualified A&P/AI inspectors, the Class I Prebuy Inspection and can be accomplished at any airport where the aircraft is located. The inspection includes a general examination of the airframe surfaces, flight controls, paint and interior, powerplant, avionics, and major systems. The airframe is carefully scrutinized for signs of surface corrosion and/or previously repaired damage. The cabin interior furnishings are inventoried and carefully examined for signs of excessive wear and damage. A complete ground operational check of engine, avionics and major systems is performed and a thorough evaluation of maintenance log records is accomplished to verify the quality of maintenance and servicing that has been performed on the aircraft. Special attention is given to verifying compliance with Airworthiness Directives (AD), Service Bulletins (SB), and any damage history. Results of the inspection are presented as a written report and include a CD/ROM copy.
The Class II - Comprehensive Prebuy Inspection
The Class II Prebuy Inspection is the most comprehensive inspection available and is similar to an annual or major inspection. The Class II Prebuy Inspection is recommended for aircraft that have not been recently inspected or properly maintained, have not been operated for an extended period of time, or have a value in excess of one million dollars. This type of inspection must be accomplished at a Nationwide Aircraft Assurance Services designated maintenance facility location due to the comprehensive nature of the inspection. The Class II Prebuy Inspection includes a thorough examination of the airframe surfaces, flight controls, paint and interior, powerplant, avionics and all major systems. Interior sections of the powerplant and airframe undergo an extensive examination including visual and boroscope inspections. The exterior and interior of the airframe is additionally scrutinized for signs of corrosion and/or previously repaired damage.
